AVMA marks Black History Month by celebrating diversity

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) recognizes Black History Month and Martin Luther King Jr. Day by calling for greater diversity in veterinary medicine. Today, veterinarians come from every walk of life, but, unfortunately, the profession still doesn’t reflect the population of this diverse nation. Dr. Ron DeHaven, AVMA chief executive officer, celebrates the accomplishments of those who have helped break down discriminatory barriers in the past, but also invites people of all backgrounds to get involved in veterinary medicine.
